Meal Choice & Ordering
« Back to Top- How do I choose my meals?
Once each week (before midnight on Thursday) you log on to our website and choose which meal you want for each day of subscribed service. We currently offer you two choices for each meal. Later this year we will be expanding to 3 choices per meal!
On your personal page inside LifestyleGourmet.com you will see a photo and name of each available meal. Take a moment and click on any menu item for a detailed description, ingredient & nutritional information as well as Weight Watcher's point values. If you prefer to not make your own selections, we'll automatically send you the first choice each day of your service.
- When can I start receiving service?
We don't start cooking until you place an order so timing is everything. Typically we can start your service within 48 hours of setting up your account. Weekend and holiday schedules may vary.
- Can I order one meal?
Sorry but no! We are a subscription service designed to provide an eating plan for our customers. If you have a need for a small quantity of meals (such as 6 dinners for a party) give us a call - we'll see what we can do.
- Can I change my order?
We buy our groceries after you place your order and cook your food hours before it is delivered. For those reasons we ask that if you need to cancel or change your order that you give us 48 hours notice. It may not seem like the most flexible policy but it sure is the freshest!
- Do you have a child's menu?
We do not currently offer a child's menu but we do offer a child friendly portion of our tasty menu and offer special pricing for children as long as at least one adult in the household is also receiving service.
- My partner and I have very different tastes. Do we have to eat the same foods?
No way. Each customer in the household will be set up with their own profile so they can have their own meal choices delivered at their desired calorie count.
Health & Nutrition
« Back to Top- When you say your food is "healthy" and "nutritiously balanced" what exactly do you mean?
Our meals follow the standards set by the nation's leading health authorities and include 45% good carbs, 30% lean proteins and 25% good fats along with 25-30 grams of fiber and fewer than 2400 mg sodium per day. To do this we use the highest quality, natural ingredients combined with low-fat/healthy cooking methods and controlled portioning to give you the calories you need and the nutrients your body requires.
- I'm on a popular diet, can I use your food as part of it?
In most cases, yes! When you really boil down most diets you will find that, in the end, they prescribe balanced nutrition and portion control. In some instances you may want to use our meals as a "base" for your diet and augment it with the items your diet is prescribing.
- What size meal should I choose?
If you are working with a personal trainer, nutritionist or doctor, ask them for a recommended calorie count.
If you'd like to do the research yourself, try this link from the American Cancer Society: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/PED/content/PED_6_1x_Calorie_Calculator.asp We're required to state that by providing this link we are not suggesting, implying or outright saying that the American Cancer Society endorses us, our products, our services, our website…well, you get the picture.
In general, most of our male customers and our very active females will prefer our larger portions. More sedentary customers and our more petite customers generally enjoy our smaller portions with reduced calories.
- I have food allergies - can I eat your food?
When completing your initial sign up we will ask about food allergies. From that point we will do our best to provide you with foods free of your personal allergens to the best of our ability. However it is important that you choose meals that best match the foods you can eat. In most instances we can handle a couple of "exceptions" per customer. If your requirements are more specific, please contact us for pricing plans tailored to your special needs.
Payment, Delivery, & Preparation
« Back to Top- How do I pay for my service?
All payments are made through our secure online server using American Express, Discover, Master Card or Visa. Payments are made in advance of receiving service. Your credit card will be charged for the total cost of a 4 week subscription. Unused or "credit" days will be applied to the next service period.
- How much are delivery fees, taxes and tips?
All prices include delivery (within our posted delivery area), all applicable taxes and tipping is not allowed. No hidden fees. No extra charges. Just straight forward pricing.
- When are meals delivered?
Our friendly delivery team delivers
to your doorstep between
- What if I need to travel?
No problem! Once you sign on to the website you will see a "Calendar" option. Just click on the days that you are going to be gone. Not only will we not deliver food on those days but we'll credit those charges to your next service period. By the way- we do ask that you cancel service days at least 48 hours in advance and we thank you in advance for any souvenirs you bring us from your trip!
- How long are the meals good for? Can I freeze them?
We heat seal our meals to lock in the freshness and to prevent spills. If kept at refrigerated temperatures you should be able to enjoy the meals up to 3 days from the date of delivery. And since our meals are always fresh and never frozen you can put them in the freezer for a couple of months.
- How do I prepare my meals?
All meals are delivered "ready to heat." Depending on the strength of your microwave, 2-3 minutes cooking time on HIGH should do the trick. You may want to experiment with placing the meats in the oven (be sure to take out of the plastic container) for about 15 minutes at 350 degrees to get a different taste.
We also recommend plating the meals. While our black plastic containers are quite chic we have found that our food looks even better on your china (and that way no one has to know that you did not cook it yourself!)
- How do you compare to other food delivery services?
In today's busy world more and more people are looking to "outsource" tasks such as their meal service. With this trend come many companies that want a piece of the pie, so to speak. When comparing us to others, be sure to ask a few questions:
How long have you been in business?
Lifestyle Gourmet has been solving Dallas' healthy meal needs since 2002.
How often do you deliver?
Most companies will either ship their food to you or deliver it once a week. Lifestyle Gourmet cooks fresh every day so we deliver fresh every day.
Are your meals frozen?
Meals made in New York City generally need to be deep cooled or frozen if they are going to be delivered to you in Dallas. Since our meals are made right here in the Metroplex and delivered fresh, we never have to freeze them. And besides, why would you want to pay someone to send you a frozen meal?
How much is delivery?
Some of our competitors seem to hide the fact they charge for delivery - you won't see the charges until you "checkout" from the website. At Lifestyle Gourmet we are real upfront about our delivery charges - we don't have any! Zip! Nada! The price we quote is all inclusive.
